John Gamble

Love of the outdoors has taken John Gamble across the country and throughout the world. Whether he is biking, skiing, hiking or camping, John feels completely at home experiencing life to the fullest in the great outdoors.

His appreciation for travel and outdoor activities began in high school, when he was an Eagle Scout working in an outdoor shop. Born in Oberlin, Ohio, John lived in upstate New York, North Carolina, California, and Colorado throughout his childhood. His family settled in West Virginia when he was 16 and after graduating from high school, he moved to California to be a ski bum. After a few years, he headed to Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado, earning a degree in Geology. While at Western State, he was President of the Western Mountain Rescue Team, the only college based MRA accredited team in the country. John was a member of Wilderness Pursuits, a club that hosted 25 trips per semester—including rafting, rock climbing, hiking, biking, kayaking, backpacking, camping and skiing. John was instrumental in changing Wilderness Pursuits from a recreational club into an accredited Outdoor Leadership program.

John ran Wilderness Pursuits for ten years before changing his career path to Real Estate. He began as a manager for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Boulder, CO and went on to work as the Education Director for New Agent training for Coldwell Banker/Primus. He was a co-owner of a Miscella Real Estate Office and in 2006, John began working with RE/MAX Professionals East and Excels.

John has lived in Batavia for the past 22 years. His sons both graduated from Batavia High School—his youngest son was captain of the 2013 State Champion Football Team. Both boys inherited John’s love of the outdoors—one has a degree in Natural Resources Management, the other is pursuing a degree in Sustainability.

Traveling, biking, and skiing fill John’s free time. He is a certified Bike instructor and plans a bike tour every year. Past trips include the Florida Keys, the Allegheny Passage, Michigan City and New Orleans (ask him how he was dubbed “Crash Gamble” if you get the chance). Every summer, he also does RAGBRAI, the seven-day bicycle ride across the state of Iowa. He is an avid skier and Vice President of the Snowdrifters Ski Club in Geneva, which sponsors ski trips to various locations across the world.

Working and volunteering in all parts of the industry has helped John develop the skillset to help his clients. He served as planning commissioner and town trustee while living in Boulder, CO. He was President of the Batavia Mainstreet Downtown Redevelopment Initiative. In addition to volunteering, John also teaches classes for the MLS on various subjects including Transaction Management, DocuSign® and Cloud CMA.

John’s experience gives him an advantage when working with clients. From rehabbing homes to serving as planning commissioner, John has experienced all sides of the industry, giving him a clear perspective on every part of the process. He has attained the GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute), CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert), e-Pro (Electronic Professional/Internet Specialist) and CNE (Certified Negation Expert) certifications. John is extremely knowledgeable about the Fox Valley area, easy to work with and very responsive.
